Mokhada, a taluka located in Palghar district of Maharashtra has long been known for malnutrition amongst children between age group of 0-6 years. Taking its focus on rural development ahead, Indiabulls Foundation has adopted the entire Mokhada taluka with an intention to curb its growing malnutrition rate along with improving the health conditions and bring about sustainable change amongst the people of Mokhada. More than 4,82,000 (children + pregnant ladies + lactating mothers) individuals have been brought under and benefitted from the IBF nutrition programme in Mokhada.
The implementation plan includes direct interventions through:
• Providing nutritional supplement (Paushtik Aahar) to primarily the target population of children, pregnant women and lactating mothers
• Initiation of 3 Free Mobile Medical vans
• Initiation of 1 Free Medical Clinic
• Conducting mega health camps in schools and villages
• Creating awareness and sensitisation
• Distribution of free sanitary napkins 'Kumud' in schools and villages
The concept of this initiative is to involve the entire community in this programme so as to make the community accountable for their growth, progress and also their sustained health development.
To cater to the vast number of residents, there are only 4 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHC's) and 1 Rural Hospital in the taluka of Mokhada. The lack of proper connectivity has majorly affected the health conditions of locals here.
This limited availability of basic health care prompted Indiabulls Foundation to start 3 JanSwasthya Kalyan Vahikas (Mobile Medical Vans) initiative. Jan Swasthya Kalyan Vahika is a community centric project initiated by IBF with an objective of providing primary health care services to the under-privileged population through a medically equipped mobile van.
The vans cover 4 divisions of Ase, Morhanda, Washala and Khodala. Each van runs 6 days a week visiting 24 locations per week and diagnosing 150 to 200 patients per day.
Additionally to the vans, IBF also has started a Free Medical Clinic to cater to the ongrowing population of Mokhada.
